This is a study companion for Cambridge IELTS 13, Test 1, Listening. Use it with your own copy of the book and its audio: do the test first, then use this page to see what each section was about, learn the vocabulary, and understand every answer and what you should have listened for.

Golden rule of Listening: the recording plays only once and the answers come in order. Before each section, read the questions and predict the type of word needed. Watch for distractors.

Section 1: Cookery Classes
Situation: a caller compares three local cookery schools — The Food Studio, Bond's Cookery School and a food centre — noting their focus and extra features. Question type: table completion (Q1–10), ONE WORD AND/OR A NUMBER. পরিস্থিতি: একজন কলার তিনটি স্থানীয় রন্ধন-স্কুল তুলনা করেন। টেবিল পূরণ।

Section 2: Traffic Changes in Granford
Situation: a speaker explains why the town of Granford needs traffic changes, what residents complained about, and what is planned.
