3. If I could, I’d love a small balcony with room for some plants. Our flat feels a bit closed-in, and a bit of greenery would make an enormous difference.
4. Possibly, yes. I quite fancy living somewhere quieter and closer to nature one day, though for now the convenience of the city suits my studies.

Band 9
1. I do, very much. Getting out into the fresh air is my favourite way to clear my head, especially after a long day cooped up indoors.
2. Quite a lot, actually. I was lucky enough to spend my childhood holidays at my grandparents’ place in the countryside, so I grew up climbing trees and swimming in the river.
3. Not as many as I’d like, sadly. The city is quite densely built, so decent green spaces are few and far between, and the ones we do have get very crowded.

3. They certainly are, in various ways. In rural areas especially, livestock like cows and goats are central to people’s livelihoods, not just as animals but as a source of income.

Band 9 ~2 minutes
The occasion I’d like to describe is a morning I spent walking through the tea-covered hills near Sylhet, which turned out to be one of the most peaceful experiences I’ve ever had.
It happened during a short trip a couple of years ago. I went with two close friends, and we deliberately woke up before dawn so that we could reach the hills just as the sun was coming up.
What we did was fairly simple — we just walked slowly along the narrow paths that wind between the tea bushes, stopping every now and then to take photos or simply to take in the view. The whole hillside was blanketed in mist, the air was cool and fresh, and the only sounds were birdsong and the occasional call of the tea workers arriving for their shift.
There are a few reasons I enjoyed it so much. Firstly, the scenery was absolutely breathtaking — endless rolling green as far as the eye could see. Secondly, after months of noise and screens in the city, that stillness felt genuinely healing; I could feel myself relaxing with every step.
But above all, it was the sense of being completely present. For those few hours I wasn’t worrying about deadlines or checking my phone — I was just there, soaking it all in. That, for me, is why time spent in nature is so precious, and why that particular morning has stayed with me ever since.

✅ Sample answers at 3 levels (Band 9 / 7 / 5–6) + Bangla explanations
Band 9
1. Where I’m from, the two most pressing issues are probably air pollution and the mismanagement of waste. The rapid growth of cities has left the air in urban areas dangerously polluted, and because recycling systems are still underdeveloped, huge amounts of rubbish end up in rivers and landfills.
2. Honestly, it has to be a shared responsibility. Governments have the power to pass and enforce meaningful legislation, which is essential, but individuals also need to play their part through everyday choices. Blaming one side alone is, I think, a bit of a cop-out.
3. On the whole, yes. Thanks to social media and better education, there’s far greater awareness now, especially among younger people. That said, awareness doesn’t always translate into action, so I’d say we still have a long way to go.
4. There’s a lot that can be done. Investing in reliable public transport would cut down on emissions, planting more trees and creating parks would improve the air, and encouraging things like rooftop gardens could make even dense areas far more liveable.
5. I’m cautiously optimistic, actually. There’s no denying the damage we’ve done, but the pace of green innovation gives me hope. If we can scale up renewable energy quickly enough, I genuinely believe the next generation could inherit a cleaner planet than we might fear.
Band 7
1. In my country, the two most serious problems are probably air pollution and poor waste management. Cities have grown very fast, so the air in urban areas is very polluted, and because recycling systems are still weak, a lot of rubbish ends up in rivers.
2. I think it is a shared responsibility. Governments have the power to make and enforce laws, which is very important, but individuals also need to help through their daily choices. Blaming only one side is not fair.
3. Yes, on the whole. Because of social media and better education, there is more awareness now, especially among young people. But awareness does not always become action, so there is still a long way to go.
4. A lot can be done. Better public transport would reduce pollution, planting more trees and making parks would improve the air, and encouraging rooftop gardens could make crowded areas nicer to live in.
5. I am a bit optimistic. We have done a lot of damage, but green technology is improving fast, and that gives me hope. If we can use more renewable energy quickly, the next generation could have a cleaner environment.
