How to Use This Guide (এই গাইড কীভাবে ব্যবহার করবেন)
Writing has two tasks. Task 1 (~20 min, 150+ words) describes a visual — a graph, chart, table, process or map. Task 2 (~40 min, 250+ words) is an essay giving your argument. Task 2 is worth twice as much. Each visual type has its own vocabulary — this page gives you the exact language, with real example diagrams.
Writing-এ দুটি টাস্ক। Task 1 (~২০ মিনিট, ১৫০+ শব্দ) একটি চিত্র বর্ণনা করে; Task 2 (~৪০ মিনিট, ২৫০+ শব্দ) একটি রচনা। Task 2-এর মান দ্বিগুণ। প্রতিটি চিত্রের নিজস্ব শব্দ আছে — এই পৃষ্ঠায় সেই ভাষা, সঙ্গে নমুনা ছবি।
Task 1 golden rule: never describe every number. Select the main features, give an overview (the big picture), and support it with key figures and comparisons. No opinions.
Task 1 সোনালী নিয়ম: সব সংখ্যা নয়; মূল বৈশিষ্ট্য বেছে নিন, একটি overview দিন, কিছু সংখ্যা ও তুলনা দিয়ে সমর্থন করুন। মত নয়।
Line Graph — Trends Over Time (প্রবণতা)
Line graphs show change over time. The key language is trends (up/down) + a degree word (how fast). লাইন গ্রাফ সময়ের সঙ্গে পরিবর্তন দেখায়। ভাষা = প্রবণতা + কত দ্রুত।

Sentence pattern: "Sales of Product A rose sharply from 15,000 to 55,000 between 2000 and 2015, before levelling off." (verb + adverb, or "there was a" + adjective + noun.)

Bar Chart — Comparisons (তুলনা)
Bar charts compare quantities. The language is comparatives and superlatives. বার চার্ট পরিমাণ তুলনা করে। ভাষা = তুলনামূলক ও সর্বোচ্চবাচক।

Pie Chart — Proportions (অনুপাত)
Pie charts show proportions of a whole (percentages). The language is fractions and share words. পাই চার্ট সমগ্রের অংশ (শতাংশ) দেখায়। ভাষা = ভগ্নাংশ ও অংশ-শব্দ।

A table gives raw numbers — select and group them, don't list all. A process shows stages — use sequencers and the passive voice. টেবিল = সংখ্যা বেছে/দলবদ্ধ করুন; process = ক্রম-শব্দ ও passive।

Maps — Change Over Time (মানচিত্রের পরিবর্তন)
Map tasks show a place at two times. Describe what was built, removed, or changed — usually in the past passive. ম্যাপ টাস্কে একটি স্থান দুই সময়ে। কী নির্মিত/অপসারিত/পরিবর্তিত হলো — সাধারণত past passive-এ বলুন।

Task 2 — Essay Structure & Linking (রচনার কাঠামো)
Every Task 2 needs four clear paragraphs and strong linking words. প্রতিটি Task 2-তে চারটি স্পষ্ট প্যারা ও শক্ত সংযোগ-শব্দ লাগে।

The 5 Task 2 question types (৫টি প্রশ্নের ধরন)

Overview Language & Common Mistakes (ভুল)
The overview (the "big picture" sentence) is the single most important sentence in Task 1 — a report without one cannot score above Band 5 for Task Achievement. Overview (বড় চিত্রের বাক্য) Task 1-এর সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বাক্য।

Common mistakes that lower the score:
- Task 1: giving an opinion or reasons (only describe the data). Task 1-এ মত নয়।
- Task 1: listing every number with no overview. overview ছাড়া সব সংখ্যা নয়।
- Writing under the word count (Task 1 < 150, Task 2 < 250) — a penalty. শব্দসংখ্যার নিচে নয়।
- Memorised phrases and off-topic examples. মুখস্থ/বিষয়-বহির্ভূত নয়।
- No paragraphs, or one huge paragraph. প্যারা ভাগ করুন।
- Copying words from the question prompt (paraphrase instead). প্রশ্ন হুবহু নকল নয় — paraphrase করুন।
