Band 9  176 words

The diagram illustrates how a rainwater harvesting system collects, stores and reuses rain at an ordinary house.

Overall, the system involves eight stages, in which rainwater is gathered from the roof, cleaned, stored underground and then pumped back to the house for purposes that do not require drinking-quality water.

The process begins when rain falls on the sloping roof of the house. The water runs down into a gutter fixed along the edge of the roof, and from there it is carried down the side of the building through a vertical downpipe. Before being stored, it passes through a filter at ground level, which removes leaves and other debris.

Once filtered, the water flows into a large underground tank, which is fitted with an overflow pipe to deal with heavy rain. When water is needed, an electric pump draws it from the tank and sends it along pipes in two directions: back into the house, where it is used to flush toilets and run the washing machine, and to an outdoor tap for watering the garden.

Band 7  168 words

The diagram shows how a rainwater harvesting system works in a house.

Overall, there are eight stages. Rainwater is collected from the roof, cleaned and stored in a tank, and then it is used again in the house and the garden.

First, rain falls on the roof of the house. Then the water goes into the gutter at the edge of the roof. After that, it moves down the downpipe on the side of the house. Next, the water goes through a filter, which removes leaves and dirt, so that the water is clean before it is stored.

After the filter, the water flows into a big tank under the ground. If there is too much water, it can leave the tank through an overflow pipe. When people need water, a pump takes the water out of the tank. The water then goes to the toilets and the washing machine inside the house, and also to a tap in the garden, where it can be used for plants.

Band 9  275 words

In many countries, children do not start learning a foreign language until they reach secondary school. I agree to a large extent that it would be better to begin at primary level, provided that schools have the teachers and resources to do it well.

The strongest argument for an early start is that young children learn languages with remarkable ease. They are naturally curious, less afraid of making mistakes and better at imitating sounds, which helps them to develop accurate pronunciation. A child who begins learning English at six will also have many more years of practice by the time they leave school than one who starts at twelve, and this extra exposure usually leads to greater confidence and fluency.

Early language learning also brings wider benefits. Studies suggest that learning a second language can improve memory and problem-solving skills, and it introduces children to other cultures at an age when they are open to new ideas. In a globalised world, where many jobs require communication with people from other countries, this is a valuable advantage.

However, an early start is only worthwhile if the teaching is of good quality. In many rural primary schools in Bangladesh, for example, teachers may themselves lack confidence in English, and a poorly taught language can leave children with mistakes that are difficult to correct later. For this reason, governments must invest in training teachers before introducing foreign languages in every primary school.

In conclusion, I largely agree that children should begin learning a foreign language at primary school, because they learn quickly and benefit in many ways, but this policy will only succeed if schools are properly prepared.

কেন ব্যান্ড ৯: কতটা একমত (to a large extent) ও শর্ত (provided that) স্পষ্ট, যুক্তিগুলো গবেষণা ও উদাহরণে বিকশিত, উন্নত শব্দ (imitating, exposure, fluency, globalised, worthwhile) ও নির্ভুল জটিল বাক্য।

Band 7  252 words

Some people think that children should start learning a foreign language at primary school, not at secondary school. I mostly agree with this idea, but I think schools need good teachers first.

Firstly, young children can learn languages very easily. They are not shy about making mistakes, and they can copy sounds well, so their pronunciation is usually better. For example, children who start English at the age of six have more years to practise than children who start at twelve, so they can speak more confidently when they finish school.

Secondly, learning a foreign language early has other benefits. It can help children to improve their memory and thinking skills, which is useful for other subjects such as maths. It also teaches them about other cultures, so they become more open-minded. In the future, many jobs need English or other languages, so this can help them to get a good job and communicate with people from other countries.

However, there is one problem. In many village schools in Bangladesh, the teachers do not speak English very well. If children learn from a teacher who makes mistakes, they may learn the wrong things, and it is hard to change this later. Therefore, the government should train teachers well before starting foreign languages in all primary schools.

In conclusion, I agree that children should learn a foreign language at primary school because they learn quickly and it helps them in many ways. However, this is only useful if the teachers are well trained.

Band 5–6  196 words

Some people think the children should learn foreign language in primary school not in secondary school. I am agree with this but school need good teacher.

First reason is small children learn language very easy. They are not shy for mistake and they can copy the sound good, so the pronunciation is good. For example if child start English in six year he have more year to practice than child start in twelve.

Second, learn foreign language early is good for the brain and memory. Also children learn about other culture. In future many job need English so it help them to get good job and talk with foreign people.

But there is one problem. In many village school in Bangladesh the teacher can not speak English good. If children learn from bad teacher they learn wrong thing and it is hard to change later. So government should train the teacher first and then start the language in all primary school.

In conclusion I am agree children should learn foreign language in primary school because they learn quick and it help them. But the teacher must be good, otherwise it is not useful for the student.
