Band 9  183 words

The line graph illustrates how many cinema tickets were sold in one country from 2000 to 2025, while the bar chart shows the number of people subscribing to online film-streaming services between 2010 and 2025.

Overall, cinema attendance declined over the period as a whole, whereas streaming subscriptions grew rapidly, suggesting a shift in the way people watch films.

Cinema ticket sales rose from 120 million in 2000 to a peak of 135 million five years later. After this, however, they fell steadily, to 110 million in 2010 and 85 million in 2015, before plunging to just 40 million in 2020. By 2025, sales had recovered partially to 70 million, but this was still well below the level at the start of the period.

Turning to the bar chart, streaming services had a mere 2 million subscribers in 2010. This figure rose to 15 million by 2015 and then more than tripled to 48 million in 2020. Growth continued, though more slowly, and the number of subscribers reached 65 million in 2025, almost equal to the number of cinema tickets sold that year.

Band 7  168 words

The line graph shows the number of cinema tickets sold in one country from 2000 to 2025, and the bar chart shows how many people subscribed to film-streaming services from 2010 to 2025.

Overall, the number of cinema tickets went down, while the number of streaming subscribers increased a lot. This shows that more people started watching films online.

In 2000, 120 million cinema tickets were sold, and this increased to 135 million in 2005, which was the highest point. After that, the number decreased to 110 million in 2010 and 85 million in 2015. In 2020, it fell sharply to only 40 million. In 2025, it went up again to 70 million, but it was still lower than in 2000.

In the bar chart, there were only 2 million streaming subscribers in 2010. This number grew to 15 million in 2015 and 48 million in 2020. In 2025, it reached 65 million, which was nearly the same as the number of cinema tickets sold in that year.

Band 9  291 words

Top footballers, cricketers and tennis players can earn more in a single week than many people earn in a lifetime. While some believe such enormous salaries are unjustifiable, others argue that sports stars fully deserve them. In my view, although their pay is undeniably excessive compared with that of essential workers, it is largely determined by the market and is not entirely unfair.

Critics of these salaries point to the contrast with people who perform vital services. Nurses, teachers and firefighters save lives and educate the next generation, yet they are often paid a tiny fraction of what a sports star earns for playing a game. In a world where many people struggle to afford basic necessities, it can seem morally wrong for an athlete to earn millions. Moreover, such wealth may encourage young people to see sport, rather than education, as the only route to success.

On the other hand, defenders of high salaries argue that elite athletes possess rare talents that have taken years of sacrifice to develop. Their careers are also short, often ending in their mid-thirties, and can be destroyed by a single injury. Most importantly, their pay reflects the vast sums they generate: clubs and sponsors earn huge amounts from ticket sales, broadcasting rights and advertising, and the star players are the reason fans pay for these.

On balance, I believe that the salaries of top athletes are a result of market forces rather than a judgement of their worth to society. The real problem is not that sports stars are paid too much, but that essential workers are paid too little.

In conclusion, while the gap between athletes and essential workers is troubling, sports stars largely earn what the market is willing to pay them.

Band 7  254 words

Some people believe that famous sports stars get too much money, while others think they deserve their high salaries. In this essay, I will discuss both views and give my opinion.

On the one hand, many people think sports stars are paid too much. For example, a famous footballer can earn millions of dollars a year, but nurses, teachers and doctors earn much less, even though their jobs are more important for society. This seems unfair, especially when many people in the world are poor and cannot buy enough food. Also, young people may think that sport is the only way to become rich, so they may not study hard.

On the other hand, some people say that sports stars deserve their money. They have special talent, and they practise for many years to reach the top level. Their careers are also very short, usually ending at around thirty-five, and they can lose everything because of one bad injury. Moreover, they bring a lot of money to their clubs through tickets, TV and advertisements, so it is fair that they get a big part of it.

In my opinion, sports stars are paid a lot because their clubs earn a lot from them. I think the real problem is that important workers like nurses and teachers should be paid more, because without them society cannot work properly.

In conclusion, both views have good points, but I believe sports stars deserve their salaries because they earn a lot of money for their clubs and sponsors.

Band 5–6  202 words

Some people think the sport star get too much money and some people think they deserve it. I will discuss both and give my opinion.

In one hand people think the sport star is paid too much. For example the famous football player get million dollar every year but the nurse and teacher get very less, but their job is more important. It is not fair because many people is poor. Also young people think sport is the only way to be rich so they not study and they play all the time. This is bad for their future.

In other hand some people say they deserve the money. They have special talent and they practice many year. Their career is very short, only until thirty five, and one injury can finish everything. Also they bring lot of money for the club by ticket, TV and advertise so they should get big money.

In my opinion they get big money because the club earn big money from them. But the nurse and teacher should get more salary also.

In conclusion both opinion is right but i think sport star deserve the money because they make money for the club and the company.
