Task 1: a line graph · Task 2: an advantages / disadvantages essay. Write both answers, get an indicative band estimate, then compare with three model answers (Band 9, 7 and 5–6) — each explained in Bangla — and grade yourself on the four official criteria. টাস্ক ১: লাইন গ্রাফ · টাস্ক ২: সুবিধা-অসুবিধা রচনা।

- You have 60 minutes: about 20 min on Task 1 (min. 150 words) and 40 min on Task 2 (min. 250 words). Task 2 counts double. টাস্ক ১-এ ~২০ মিনিট, টাস্ক ২-এ ~৪০ মিনিট।
- Notice where the lines cross and which one falls at the end — these are key features to report. লাইনগুলো কোথায় একে অপরকে ছাড়িয়ে যায় ও শেষে কোনটি কমে — এগুলো মূল বৈশিষ্ট্য।
- The band estimate is a rough computer guide — use the model answers and checklist as your main guide. স্কোর আনুমানিক; মডেল উত্তর ও চেকলিস্টই মূল ভরসা।

In 1985, the North produced 22 million tonnes, slightly more than the South (20 million) and the Central region (16 million). Northern production then rose steadily, more than doubling to 52 million tonnes by 2015 and reaching 58 million in 2025. The Central region grew even faster at first: by 1995 it had overtaken the South with 25 million tonnes, and it peaked at 45 million in 2015 before dipping slightly to 43 million.
The South, meanwhile, showed the weakest growth. Its output rose only gradually, to 22 million tonnes in 1995, before climbing more quickly to a peak of 38 million in 2015. Over the final decade, however, it fell back to 33 million, leaving it the lowest-producing region by a considerable margin.

Band 9 291 words
As life expectancy rises, a growing number of people in many countries are choosing, or are obliged, to keep working beyond the traditional retirement age. This trend brings real benefits for both individuals and society, but it also has some notable drawbacks.
For the individuals concerned, continuing to work can provide both financial security and a sense of purpose. Many older people lack sufficient savings or pensions to retire comfortably, so remaining in employment allows them to support themselves without relying on their children or the state. Work also keeps them mentally active and socially connected, which research suggests can protect against loneliness and memory decline. For employers and the wider economy, older employees bring decades of experience and practical knowledge that can be passed on to younger colleagues, while their taxes help to fund public services at a time when populations are ageing.
On the other hand, there are potential disadvantages. If older people stay in their positions for longer, there may be fewer opportunities for young people to find jobs or gain promotion, a particular concern in countries with high youth unemployment, such as Bangladesh. Furthermore, not everyone is physically able to keep working; for those in demanding manual jobs, such as construction or farming, working into their late sixties or seventies may damage their health. There is also a risk that some people continue working not by choice but because they cannot afford to stop.
In conclusion, working beyond retirement age can offer older people income, purpose and social contact, and allow society to benefit from their experience. However, it may limit opportunities for the young and harm the health of those in physically demanding work, so flexible arrangements, such as part-time roles, may offer the best balance.
Band 7 255 words
Nowadays, many people continue to work after the official retirement age. This trend has some advantages and some disadvantages, which I will discuss in this essay.
There are several advantages. Firstly, older people can earn money and do not need to depend on their children or the government. Many people do not have enough savings, so working longer helps them to live comfortably. Secondly, working keeps older people active and healthy, because they use their brain every day and meet other people, so they feel less lonely. Thirdly, older workers have a lot of experience, so they can teach younger workers and help their companies. They also continue to pay taxes, which is good for the country.
However, there are also some disadvantages. The main problem is that if older people do not retire, there are fewer jobs for young people. In countries like Bangladesh, where many young graduates cannot find work, this is a serious problem. Another disadvantage is that some jobs are very hard physically, such as building or farming, and older people may become ill or get injured if they continue doing them. Also, some people have to work because they are poor, not because they want to.
In conclusion, working after retirement age helps older people to earn money and stay active, and companies can use their experience. However, it can reduce jobs for young people and may be bad for older people’s health. Part-time work may be a good solution, because older people can continue working without becoming too tired.
Band 5–6 206 words
Now a days many people work after the retirement age. This have advantage and disadvantage.
First advantage is old people can earn money and not depend on children or government. Many people have not enough saving so work is good for them. Second, work keep old people active and healthy because they use the brain and meet people, so they not feel alone. Third, old worker have many experience so they can teach the young worker. They also pay tax and it is good for country.
But there is disadvantage also. The main problem is if old people not retire there is less job for young people. In Bangladesh many young graduate can not find job, so it is big problem. Another problem is some job is very hard like building or farming and old people can be sick or get injury. Also some people work because they are poor, not because they want.
In conclusion work after retirement is good for money and active life but it make less job for young people and it can be bad for health. Part time job is good idea for old people because they can work some hour and rest also. Then young people also get more job.
