Band 9  199 words

The bar chart compares the average time that people of five different age groups spent each day on screen-based activities and on physical exercise in one country in 2024.

Overall, every age group spent far more time looking at screens than exercising. Young adults aged 16 to 24 had the highest screen time, while children aged 10 to 15 were the most physically active.

Screen use was highest among 16- to 24-year-olds, at 300 minutes, or five hours, per day. Children aged 10 to 15 spent 240 minutes on screens, and this figure fell with age to 210 minutes for those aged 25 to 44 and 160 minutes for the 45–64 group. Interestingly, screen time rose again among people aged 65 and over, to 190 minutes.

Exercise, by contrast, occupied a much smaller part of the day. The youngest group exercised for 70 minutes, but this dropped sharply to 45 minutes among 16- to 24-year-olds and continued to decline to a low of just 25 minutes for those aged 45 to 64. Older people exercised slightly more, at 35 minutes. As a result, the oldest working-age group spent more than six times as long on screens as on exercise.

Band 7  191 words

The bar chart shows how many minutes per day people in five age groups spent on screen activities and physical exercise in one country in 2024.

Overall, all the age groups spent much more time on screens than on exercise. People aged 16 to 24 spent the most time on screens, and children aged 10 to 15 did the most exercise.

For screen time, the 16 to 24 age group had the highest figure, with 300 minutes a day. Children aged 10 to 15 spent 240 minutes. After that, screen time decreased with age, to 210 minutes for people aged 25 to 44 and 160 minutes for people aged 45 to 64. However, people aged 65 and over spent more time on screens again, with 190 minutes.

For exercise, the numbers were much lower. Children aged 10 to 15 exercised for 70 minutes a day, but people aged 16 to 24 exercised for only 45 minutes. The figure continued to go down to 30 minutes and then 25 minutes for the 45 to 64 group, which was the lowest. People aged 65 and over exercised a little more, for 35 minutes.

Band 5–6  139 words

The bar chart show the minutes per day people spend on screen and exercise in different age in one country.

Overall all age group spend more time on screen than exercise. The 16 to 24 is the most screen and the 10 to 15 is the most exercise.

For screen, 16 to 24 is 300 minutes, it is the highest. 10 to 15 is 240 minutes. Then it go down, 25 to 44 is 210 and 45 to 64 is 160. But 65 and more is 190, it go up again.

For exercise the number is very small. 10 to 15 is 70 minutes but 16 to 24 is only 45. Then it go down more, 30 and 25 minutes. 65 and more is 35 minutes. So people do very little exercise and this is not good for health.

Band 9  268 words

Childhood obesity has become a serious public health concern in many countries, including in the growing cities of Bangladesh. This problem has several causes, mainly related to diet and lifestyle, but it could be tackled through coordinated action by families, schools and governments.

The primary cause is a change in children’s diets. Cheap, heavily advertised fast food and sugary drinks have increasingly replaced traditional home-cooked meals, partly because busy working parents have less time to cook. These foods are high in calories but low in nutrients, so children consume far more energy than they need. A second major cause is a lack of physical activity. Many children now spend hours each day on phones and computers, and in crowded cities there are often few safe parks or playgrounds where they can run and play outdoors.

To address the problem of diet, governments could introduce clearer food labelling and restrict the advertising of unhealthy products to children, while a tax on sugary drinks could make healthier options relatively cheaper. Schools also have an important role: they could provide nutritious lunches and teach children basic cooking and nutrition. To increase activity, schools should guarantee daily physical education, and city authorities could create more parks and safe spaces for sport. Parents, too, can set limits on screen time and encourage outdoor play, perhaps by joining their children in weekend sports or family walks.

In conclusion, rising childhood obesity is caused mainly by unhealthy diets and inactive lifestyles. Only if families, schools and governments work together to improve children’s food and increase their opportunities for exercise can this worrying trend be reversed.

Band 7  253 words

Nowadays, more and more children are becoming overweight in many countries. In this essay, I will discuss the main causes of this problem and suggest some solutions.

The first cause is unhealthy food. Many children eat fast food like burgers, pizza and fried chicken, and they drink a lot of soft drinks. This kind of food has a lot of fat and sugar, but it does not have many vitamins. Also, many parents are busy at work, so they do not have time to cook healthy food at home. The second cause is that children do not do enough exercise. They spend many hours playing games on their phones or watching TV. In big cities like Dhaka, there are not many parks or playgrounds, so children cannot play outside.

There are several solutions to this problem. Firstly, the government should control advertisements for fast food and put a tax on soft drinks, so that people buy less of them. Secondly, schools should give children healthy lunches and teach them about good food. They should also have sports classes every day. Thirdly, the government should build more parks and playgrounds in cities. Finally, parents should limit the time their children spend on phones and encourage them to play outside. They can also cook healthy meals at the weekend and teach their children to enjoy fruit and vegetables.

In conclusion, children are becoming overweight because of unhealthy food and lack of exercise. If the government, schools and parents work together, this problem can be solved.

Band 5–6  195 words

Now a days many children become fat in many country. I will tell the cause and solution of this problem.

First cause is the bad food. Children eat lot of fast food like burger and pizza and drink cold drink. This food have many fat and sugar. Also parent are busy so they not cook healthy food in home. Second cause is children not do exercise. They play game in mobile and watch TV for many hour. In Dhaka there is no much park so children can not play outside.

There is some solution. First government should stop the advertise of fast food and put more tax on cold drink. Second school should give healthy lunch and teach about good food. Also school should have sport class every day. Third government should make more park in the city. And parent should not give mobile to children for long time, they should take children to the park in weekend and cook healthy food like vegetable and fish.

In conclusion children become fat because of bad food and no exercise. If government, school and parent work together the problem can be solve and children will be healthy.
