Introduction: The PTE Reading Section
ভূমিকা: PTE Reading অংশটি কী?
The PTE Reading section is the second part of the test. It measures how well you understand written academic English — passages, arguments and vocabulary in context. Because PTE is an integrated-skills test, one item type (Fill in the Blanks) also feeds your Writing score, since it checks grammar and word choice, not just comprehension.
PTE Reading অংশটি পরীক্ষার দ্বিতীয় ভাগ। এটি যাচাই করে আপনি লিখিত একাডেমিক ইংরেজি — প্যাসেজ, যুক্তি ও প্রাসঙ্গিক শব্দভান্ডার — কতটা ভালো বোঝেন। PTE একটি ইন্টিগ্রেটেড-স্কিল পরীক্ষা হওয়ায়, একটি আইটেম টাইপ (Fill in the Blanks) আপনার Writing স্কোরেও যোগ হয়, কারণ এটি শুধু বোঝার নয়, ব্যাকরণ ও শব্দ চয়নও যাচাই করে।
No overall timer per question: unlike Speaking, most Reading items are not individually timed — you manage the 22-30 minute section clock yourself and can move between un-timed items, but items in a "timed" sub-set may lock once you move on. Watch the on-screen clock, not a per-item countdown.

Test Format & Structure (পরীক্ষার ফরম্যাট)
You will see a mix of passages ranging from single paragraphs to longer multi-paragraph texts on academic topics (science, history, social issues). Passage length and question count vary by test form.

All five types are computer-marked instantly and objectively — there is no ambiguity in scoring, which means every mark comes down to precision.

A passage has several blanks. Click each blank and choose the correct word from its own dropdown menu of options.

Read a passage and select all the options (usually 2 or more) that are correct — checkboxes, not radio buttons.
Reorder Paragraphsঅনুচ্ছেদ ক্রমবিন্যাস
Several text boxes appear in random order. Drag them into the order that makes a logical, coherent passage.

Read a passage and choose the single best answer to a question about it from several radio-button options.
Worked Example: Reorder Paragraphs (উদাহরণ)
B: "However, rising water demand threatens this progress." · A: "Rooftop farming has become common in Dhaka." · C: "As a result, several NGOs now offer rainwater harvesting kits."
Correct orderA → B → C — A introduces the topic, B adds a contrasting problem ("However"), and C gives the resulting solution ("As a result").

Time-Box Every Passage (প্রতিটি প্যাসেজে সময় ভাগ করুন)
With 22-30 minutes for the whole section and no per-item timer, decide roughly how long each item deserves before you start, and move on if you overrun — a skipped item scores zero, but a rushed guess still has a chance.

Spend 20-30 seconds skimming a passage for its overall topic and structure before answering — this makes Reorder Paragraphs and Multiple Choice much faster.
উত্তর দেওয়ার আগে ২০-৩০ সেকেন্ড প্যাসেজ স্কিম করুন — এতে Reorder Paragraphs ও MCQ দ্রুত হয়।
"Few researchers dispute that coral bleaching is linked to rising sea temperatures."
Distractor option"Most researchers disagree that coral bleaching is linked to sea temperatures." — wrong, reverses the meaning of "few...dispute"
"Few dispute" মানে "প্রায় সবাই একমত" — বিপরীত অর্থে ভুল অপশন তৈরি করা হয়।
Grammar matters even in "Reading": Fill in the Blanks (Dropdown) is graded partly as a Writing skill — wrong tense or preposition loses the mark even if your chosen word is a synonym of the right one.

Do's (করণীয়)
- Skim for topic and structure before answering. উত্তরের আগে স্কিম করুন।
- Fill the easiest blanks first in drag-and-drop tasks. সহজ শূন্যস্থান আগে পূরণ করুন।
- Find the topic sentence first when reordering. প্রথমে বিষয়বাক্য খুঁজুন।
- Watch the section clock, not a per-item timer. সেকশন ক্লক দেখুন।
- Attempt every item — there's no time penalty for guessing. প্রতিটি আইটেম চেষ্টা করুন।
Don'ts (বর্জনীয়)
- Don't pick MCQ answers just because words match the passage. শুধু শব্দ মিলছে বলে অপশন বেছে নেবেন না।
- Don't over-select in Multiple Answers — wrong picks can cost marks. অতিরিক্ত অপশন বেছে নেবেন না।
- Don't ignore grammar in dropdown blanks. ড্রপডাউনে ব্যাকরণ উপেক্ষা করবেন না।
- Don't spend more than ~2-3 minutes stuck on one item. এক আইটেমে বেশি সময় দেবেন না।
- Don't leave any item unanswered. কোনো আইটেম খালি রাখবেন না।

Phase 2: Build Academic Vocabulary
Goal: Widen the vocabulary that dropdown/drag-and-drop blanks test. একাডেমিক শব্দভান্ডার বাড়ানো।
Do: Learn 15-20 academic collocations a week from news/journal articles. সপ্তাহে ১৫-২০টি একাডেমিক শব্দ শিখুন।
Phase 3: Speed & Accuracy
Goal: Complete a full 22-30 minute section within time, accurately. সময়ের মধ্যে পুরো সেকশন নির্ভুলভাবে শেষ করা।
Do: 3-4 full timed section runs; track time-per-item in an error log. সময়বদ্ধ পূর্ণ রান দিন; error log রাখুন।
