Introduction: The PTE Listening Section
ভূমিকা: PTE Listening অংশটি কী?
The PTE Listening section is the final, and longest, section of the test. Audio and video clips begin playing automatically — there is no "play" button to click — and you hear each clip only once. You are given a notepad and pen (or on-screen whiteboard) to take notes throughout.
PTE Listening অংশটি পরীক্ষার শেষ ও দীর্ঘতম অংশ। অডিও ও ভিডিও ক্লিপ স্বয়ংক্রিয়ভাবে চালু হয় — কোনো "প্লে" বাটন নেই — এবং প্রতিটি ক্লিপ আপনি একবারই শুনবেন। নোট নেওয়ার জন্য একটি নোটপ্যাড ও কলম (বা অন-স্ক্রিন হোয়াইটবোর্ড) দেওয়া হয়।
Audio and video: some clips are audio-only, others are short videos of a speaker — both are marked identically. Volume can usually be adjusted before each clip starts, so set it in the first seconds.

Test Format & Structure (পরীক্ষার ফরম্যাট)
Clips range from short single sentences (Write from Dictation) to longer academic talks (Summarize Spoken Text, up to ~90 seconds). Because this is the last section of a long test, fatigue is a real factor — pacing matters as much as listening skill.

Each type demands a different listening skill — from catching every word (Dictation) to holding the gist of a 90-second talk in your head (Summarize Spoken Text).

Note-Taking Is Non-Negotiable (নোট নেওয়া অপরিহার্য)
Because every clip plays only once, your notes are your only "replay" button, especially for Summarize Spoken Text. Note down numbers, names, and 2-3 key supporting ideas — not full sentences.

Practise Dictation Daily (প্রতিদিন Dictation অনুশীলন করুন)
Write from Dictation is the one item type you can train mechanically: play any short English audio, pause, and write exactly what you heard. It also sharpens your ear for every other Listening item.

Fatigue management: Listening is the final section after 100+ minutes of testing. Keep water nearby (where allowed), and use the short breaks between item types to reset your focus rather than dwelling on a difficult earlier item.

Do's (করণীয়)
- Take short-form notes on every clip. প্রতিটি ক্লিপে সংক্ষিপ্ত নোট নিন।
- Set audio volume in the first seconds of a clip. ক্লিপের শুরুতে ভলিউম ঠিক করুন।
- Read along with any on-screen transcript. অন-স্ক্রিন টেক্সট থাকলে পড়ে যান।
- Practise Write from Dictation daily. প্রতিদিন Dictation অনুশীলন করুন।
- Move on immediately after a missed item. মিস করা আইটেম সাথে সাথে ছেড়ে দিন।
Don'ts (বর্জনীয়)
- Don't wait for a "play" button — it starts automatically. "প্লে" বাটনের জন্য অপেক্ষা করবেন না।
- Don't write full sentences while listening. শোনার সময় পূর্ণ বাক্য লিখবেন না।
- Don't ignore spelling in typed answers. টাইপ করা উত্তরে বানান উপেক্ষা করবেন না।
- Don't over-select in Multiple Answers items. অতিরিক্ত অপশন বেছে নেবেন না।
- Don't dwell on a clip you can't replay. যে ক্লিপ আবার শোনা যাবে না তা নিয়ে ভাববেন না।

Phase 1: Learn the Eight Types

Phase 2: Single-Play Listening
Goal: Train yourself to extract meaning from one listen, no rewinds. একবার শুনে অর্থ বোঝা।
Do: Daily dictation drills; listen to podcasts/lectures once and summarise from memory. প্রতিদিন dictation ও একবার শুনে সারাংশ লেখা অনুশীলন করুন।
Phase 3: Full-Section Stamina
Goal: Sustain focus through the full 31-39 minute section as the last part of a long exam. দীর্ঘ পরীক্ষার শেষে মনোযোগ ধরে রাখা।
Do: 2-3 complete timed runs, ideally straight after a full Speaking/Writing/Reading mock. সম্পূর্ণ মক টেস্টের পর সময়বদ্ধ Listening রান দিন।
Daily micro-habit: transcribe one 20-second news clip word-for-word every day — it trains dictation accuracy, spelling and the ear for near-homophones tested in Highlight Incorrect Words.
