Allow microphone access when your browser asks — this is required for every speaking task. Use headphones with a mic for the clearest recording. Speaking tasks are not auto-graded (pronunciation/fluency require a human or specialised AI grader); play your recording back and compare it with the tips given for each task.

1 · Read Aloud

Prepare, then read the text aloud clearly and naturally.

"The human brain contains around eighty-six billion nerve cells, each connected to thousands of others through tiny junctions called synapses. Every time we learn something new, some of these connections are strengthened while others weaken, which is why regular practice helps skills become faster and more automatic over time."

Trap: the scoring engine checks every word — skipping or mispronouncing one costs both Reading and Speaking marks.

2 · Repeat Sentence

Listen once, then immediately repeat the sentence exactly.

Show the sentence (after you try)

"The deadline for scholarship applications has been extended until the end of the month."

3 · Describe Image

Prepare, then describe the chart in your own words.

Average Daily Temperature in Dhaka (°C) 0° 10° 20° 30° 40° Jan Mar May Jul Sep Nov Maximum Minimum
0:25

Trap: describe both lines and the gap between them — e.g. "the difference between day and night temperatures is largest in winter and smallest during the monsoon".

4 · Retell Lecture

Listen to the lecture (taking notes if you like), then retell its key points.

"Today I'll explain how antibiotics work and why antibiotic resistance has become a global concern. Antibiotics are medicines that kill bacteria or stop them from multiplying, often by damaging their cell walls or blocking the processes they use to make proteins. They have no effect on viruses, which is why they cannot cure colds or flu. When antibiotics are used, most bacteria die, but a few may carry genetic changes that allow them to survive, and these survivors can multiply and pass on their resistance. Overuse in medicine and in farming, where antibiotics are sometimes given to healthy animals, has speeded up this process. Doctors therefore urge patients to complete their prescribed courses and to use antibiotics only when they are truly needed, while researchers search for new drugs."

5 · Answer Short Question

Listen to the question, then answer with a single word or short phrase.

Show expected answer (after you try)

"A century." — one word is enough.

6 · Summarize Group Discussion

Listen to the discussion, then give a spoken summary covering both viewpoints.

Speaker A: "I believe students should be allowed to use AI tools for their assignments, because these tools will be part of every workplace and students need to learn to use them well."

Speaker B: "I agree they're important, but if students let AI write their essays, they won't develop their own thinking and writing skills, which is the point of the assignment."

Speaker A: "That's true, so perhaps teachers should ask students to show how they used the tool and to reflect on its mistakes."

Speaker B: "That could work, and more in-class writing and oral exams would also help teachers check what students genuinely understand."

Moderator: "So both speakers accept that AI tools matter, but one emphasises preparing students to use them, while the other stresses protecting independent thinking through careful assessment."

Trap: mention at least two different viewpoints — not just one speaker's opinion.

7 · Respond to a Situation

Prepare, then speak an appropriate response to the situation.

"You have been invited to a friend's wedding, but you have an important job interview on the same day. Call your friend, explain the situation and apologise."
0:20

Trap: show warmth and regret first, then explain the clash clearly and offer something positive (a gift, a visit soon afterwards).

8 · Summarize Written Text

Read the passage, then write a one-sentence summary (5-75 words) in 10 minutes.

"Electric vehicles are often promoted as a key solution to climate change because they produce no exhaust emissions while driving. However, their overall environmental impact depends heavily on how the electricity that powers them is generated: in countries that rely mainly on coal, the emissions saved on the road are partly offset by emissions at power stations. Producing electric vehicle batteries also requires mining lithium, cobalt and nickel, which can damage ecosystems and has raised concerns about working conditions in some mining regions. Nevertheless, studies that compare the full life cycle of vehicles generally conclude that electric cars produce lower total emissions than petrol cars, and the advantage grows as electricity grids shift towards renewable energy and as battery recycling becomes more widespread."
0 words (target: 5-75, one sentence)
📖 Show a model one-sentence summary

Although the benefits of electric vehicles depend on how electricity is generated and battery mining causes environmental and social problems, life-cycle studies show they produce lower emissions than petrol cars, especially as grids become greener.

9 · Write Essay

Write a 200-300 word argumentative essay in 20 minutes.

"Some people argue that university education should be free for all students, while others think students should pay for their own degrees. Discuss both views and give your own opinion."
0 words (target: 200-300)
📖 Compare with 3 sample responses (strong / mid / weak)
Strong

"Whether university education should be funded by the state or paid for by students is a long-standing debate. While both positions have merit, I believe that higher education should be largely free, provided that funding is linked to clear national priorities.

Advocates of tuition fees argue that graduates benefit personally from their degrees, typically earning considerably more over their lifetimes, so it seems fair that they, rather than taxpayers, should bear the cost. Moreover, fees may encourage students to choose courses carefully and give universities resources to improve facilities and attract skilled staff.

On the other hand, free education removes a major barrier for talented students from low-income families, who may otherwise avoid university for fear of debt. Society as a whole also benefits from a highly educated population through innovation, higher tax revenues and better public services. Countries such as Germany have shown that free university education can coexist with high academic standards.

In my opinion, the benefits to society justify public funding. However, governments should combine free tuition with sensible limits, such as linking the number of funded places to the needs of the economy. In this way, opportunity can be widened without placing an unsustainable burden on public finances."

শক্তিশালী: উভয় পক্ষের যুক্তি, জার্মানির উদাহরণ, এবং শর্তসাপেক্ষ সমাধানসহ স্পষ্ট মত।

Mid

"University education is very expensive in many countries. Some people think students should pay because they will earn more money after graduation. Other people think education should be free so poor students can also study. I agree that education should be free because it is good for the country and everyone should have chance. But government need to manage money carefully."

মধ্যম: দুই দিক আছে, কিন্তু উদাহরণ নেই, কিছু ব্যাকরণ ভুল (have chance, government need)।

Weak

"University is expensive. Student pay money is bad for poor. Free is good. But government no money sometime. I think free is better."

দুর্বল: ভাঙা বাক্য, যুক্তি নেই, খুব ছোট।
