Personal Introduction Not Scored

Read the prompt, then record your introduction.

"Please introduce yourself. In your introduction you may wish to include information about your interests, your plans for study, and why you are taking this test."

1 · Read Aloud

Prepare, then read the text aloud clearly and naturally.

"The Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest in the world, stretches across the delta formed by the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers. Its tangled roots shelter fish, crabs and birds, while the forest itself acts as a natural shield, reducing the force of cyclones and storm surges before they reach the villages further inland."

Trap: the scoring engine checks every word — skipping or mispronouncing one costs both Reading and Speaking marks.

2 · Repeat Sentence

Listen once, then immediately repeat the sentence exactly.

Show the sentence (after you try)

"Lecture notes will be uploaded to the student portal within two days of each class."

3 · Describe Image

Prepare, then describe the chart in your own words.

Household Spending in a Typical Month (%) 0% 20% 40% 60% 80% 42 Food 22 Housing 10 Transport 12 Education 6 Health 8 Other

Trap: start with the biggest category and what it tells you ("food takes the largest share — more than housing and transport combined"), then compare the smaller items.

4 · Retell Lecture

Listen to the lecture (taking notes if you like), then retell its key points.

"Today's lecture is about sleep and why it is essential for health. Sleep is not a single state; over a typical night, we pass through several cycles of light sleep, deep sleep and rapid eye movement, or REM, sleep, each lasting about ninety minutes. Deep sleep is particularly important for physical recovery, as the body repairs tissues and releases growth hormone. REM sleep, when most vivid dreaming occurs, appears to play a key role in processing emotions and consolidating memories. Adults who regularly sleep less than seven hours a night face a higher risk of obesity, heart disease and depression, and their reaction times can be as slow as those of someone who has been drinking. Simple habits, such as keeping a regular schedule and avoiding screens before bed, can significantly improve sleep quality."

5 · Answer Short Question

Listen to the question, then answer with a single word or short phrase.

Show expected answer (after you try)

"Snow." — one word is enough.

6 · Summarize Group Discussion

Listen to the discussion, then give a spoken summary covering both viewpoints.

Speaker A: "I think tourists should pay an extra fee to visit popular natural sites like Saint Martin's Island, because the money could be used to protect the environment."

Speaker B: "Protection is important, but a high fee might stop local and low-income visitors from enjoying their own country's natural heritage."

Speaker A: "That's a good point, so perhaps local residents and students could pay less, while foreign tourists pay more."

Speaker B: "That's fairer, though I'd also want to limit the daily number of visitors, because overcrowding causes damage no matter how much people pay."

Moderator: "So the speakers agree on protecting fragile sites, but one focuses on fees to fund conservation, while the other stresses fairness and limiting visitor numbers."

Trap: mention at least two different viewpoints — not just one speaker's opinion.

7 · Respond to a Situation

Prepare, then speak an appropriate response to the situation.

"You are leading a group project, and one team member has not completed their part before the deadline. Speak to them, explain your concern and agree on a plan."
0:20

Trap: avoid sounding angry — state the problem and its impact, ask if they need help, and agree on a specific new deadline.

8 · Summarize Written Text

Read the passage, then write a one-sentence summary (5-75 words) in 10 minutes.

"Social media platforms have transformed the way news is produced and consumed. Rather than waiting for a daily newspaper or evening broadcast, people can now receive updates instantly, and ordinary citizens can share eyewitness reports from events as they happen. This has allowed important stories, which might once have been ignored, to reach wide audiences quickly. At the same time, the speed and scale of social media have made it easier for false or misleading information to spread, often faster than corrections. Algorithms that show users content similar to what they have engaged with before may also create "filter bubbles", in which people rarely encounter views that challenge their own. Many experts therefore argue that media literacy education, teaching people to evaluate sources critically, has become as important as traditional reading and writing skills."

Social media lets news and eyewitness reports spread instantly, but it also speeds the spread of misinformation and creates filter bubbles, so experts argue that media literacy education is now essential.

9 · Write Essay

Write a 200-300 word argumentative essay in 20 minutes.

"Some people believe that children should start learning a foreign language at primary school, while others think it is better to begin at secondary school. Discuss both views and give your own opinion."
0 words (target: 200-300)
📖 Compare with 3 sample responses (strong / mid / weak)
Strong

"The question of when children should begin learning a foreign language has important implications for school curricula. Although there are reasonable arguments for waiting until secondary school, I believe that an early start offers greater long-term benefits.

Those who favour a later start argue that young children should first build a strong foundation in their mother tongue and in basic literacy and numeracy. They also point out that primary schools often lack specialist language teachers, so early lessons may be poorly taught and have little lasting effect. Older learners, moreover, can understand grammar rules explicitly and often progress quickly.

However, research suggests that younger children are particularly good at acquiring natural pronunciation and are less self-conscious about making mistakes. Starting early also gives learners many more years of exposure, which is crucial for achieving fluency. In addition, learning another language at a young age can foster curiosity about other cultures and develop flexible thinking.

In my view, the advantages of an early start outweigh the drawbacks, provided that lessons are playful, regular and taught by trained teachers. Rather than delaying language learning, governments should therefore invest in preparing primary teachers, so that children can benefit from the years when they learn most naturally."

শক্তিশালী: উভয় পক্ষের যুক্তি গবেষণাসহ, শর্তসাপেক্ষ মত (প্রশিক্ষিত শিক্ষক) ও স্পষ্ট উপসংহার।

Mid

"Some people think children should learn foreign language in primary school because young children learn quickly and have good pronunciation. Other people think it is better in secondary school because children must learn their own language first. In my opinion, primary school is better time to start because children are not shy and they have more years to practise. But schools need good teachers for this."

মধ্যম: দুই দিক ও মত আছে, কিন্তু বিস্তার কম, কিছু আর্টিকেল ভুল (foreign language, better time)।

Weak

"Children learn language good when small. But some say learn later is better. I think small age is good because children learn fast. Teacher also need."

দুর্বল: ব্যাকরণ ভুল, যুক্তি অস্পষ্ট, খুব ছোট।
